Lauren Velasco
Lauren started dancing at the age of 4. She grew up training at Juline School of Dance in their pre-professional ballet division, as well as training in pointe, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and tap. Lauren was also a member of the Juline Regional Youth Ballet for 2 years, having the opportunity to perform with the company at Regional Dance America in 2015. Lauren began student teaching at Juline School of Dance in 2016, and was teaching classes of her own by 2018. From 2017-2020, Lauren volunteered with the Juline Foundation for Children’s Juline Juniors (currently Soaring Stars) program. Lauren has gone on to attend The University of Arizona, recently graduating with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Adolescents, Community, and Education. While attending The University of Arizona School of Dance, Lauren had the opportunity to perform works by faculty members including Tamara Dyke-Compton, Christopher Compton, Hayley Meier, Sam Watson, Lorin Mathis, as well visiting professor Thang Dao. Lauren has had additional training with Carmel Dance Festival/Ballare Carmel, Eisenhower Dance Detroit, and American Ballet Theatre. Lauren has enjoyed returning to JSD as a teacher over the past few summers and is passionate about sharing her experience and ever-growing knowledge in dance education with students who are eager to learn!
